Helmet hair

In honor of bike month, I thought I would talk a little bit about helmet hair.  Unfortunately, helmet hair is a common side affect of biking.  The shorter the hair, the worse it can be.

Mid-length hair can give you "the flip".

Long hair is the easiest to handle, just put it in a low ponytail.

The place I work just happens have all the tools to fix my hair after my commute, but I realize that that is not the case for everyone.  I have found that my hair looks the best when I start out with it curly, that way if it creases or bumps it just goes with the style!  Bring some hairspray or pommade with you to touch up your hair.  Even better if you have a shower at work and you can just do it there.

Braiding the front of your hair is a great style to try under your helmet.  It eliminates the chances of ruining your bangs and you can have the rest of your hair curly, straight or even put it up.

If your hair is short, help the after-helmet-hair by trying a headband.

If you are looking for a haircut that looks great under a helmet, look no further than the ever-classy mullet.  Those hockey players really know what they are doing.  Keeps the hair out of the eyes and you can still see the curls in the back.  :)

If you are worried about looking cool while riding, try a helmet like this:

 Or this:

These helmets look good enough to wear all day long!

But in all seriousness, don't miss out on the fun of riding your bike to work just because of your hair.  It is a great way to start and end your day!  Besides, who doesn't love an excuse to spend less time on their hair?!

Be safe and happy riding!
