Rain, rain, rain

All this rain making you feel like you look like this?

Well, I doubt it's that bad, but here are a few suggestions to help you tame hair that gets a little frizzy in this weather.

1. Use an anti-humidity product before blowdrying your hair.  AVEDA'S Style-prep Smoother is one of my favorites.  Make sure you dry your hair completely!

2. Wear your hair curly if you can.  The rain will actually bring out the curl in your hair if  you have any, so just embrace it!  Use a gel or curl creme to help hold the curls. Try twisting sections of your hair around your fingers into the shape of the curl to form a smooth curl.  You can use a diffuser or just let it air dry.  If your hair is straight, try tips 1, 3, 4, and 5.

3. Carry some pommade or a finishing cream with you.  When you get to work or where you need to be, use a small amount to get rid of those fly-aways.  Try KEVIN MURPHY'S Anti-frizz Creme or AVEDA's Texturizing Creme.

4. Wear a headband.  Just pulling back some of the hair off your face will help keep the hair from looking too wild, while still looking styled.

5. When all else fails, pull it back.  I realize this will only work if your hair is shoulder length or longer.  The headband spices up a regular bun.

If you have short hair, try just the headband trick.

6. Stay inside :) Take a sick day for your hair.  Ok, not really.  If we all did that, the state of Washington would never have anyone go to work.  Carry an umbrella and try not to touch your hair too much.

You will be surprised at how many complements you get when you change up your style even slightly.  Smile at the rain :)

Again, what in the world does my stylist mean?

Ever sit in the chair at the salon and have your stylist ask you if you want a blow-out?  Or you call the salon to get your hair styled for a special occasion and you don't know how to ask for it, afraid you will get "prom hair"?  Here is what to expect:

Todays word:

BLOW-OUT
or
SHAMPOO AND STYLE

These words simply mean that you will get your hair washed and then styled, but not put up.  That would be an updo.  Your hair can be styled in any number of ways, straight or curly.  I see a lot of clients for this service who have a lot of curly hair that is hard for them to straighten by themselves.  It is also a great service to try if you want to get some extra volume.  All of these pictures are great examples of hair that has been blown-out.  Some of them have curl added to them as well.  When getting this service it is great to bring along a picture to let your stylist know what you would like the end result to look like.

There are different ways to style short looks as well, a blow-out is not just for long hair!

This is a great service to ask for if you have a special occasion to go to.  Treat yourself next time you are going out!

PINK!

My favorite singer is Pink, and she has some rad hair.  If you are daring enough to go this short, here are some awesome ideas!

Throughout the years it has changed slightly but she rocks the short styles the most.

One of the few times I have seen her with roots.  I think it looks great!

A touch of blue?

So platinum it is silver.

With a little bit of length on top you can curl the hair for a more glamorous look.

A rare picture of it dark.

Living up to her name by adding some pink

An early album cover.

Vibrant pink, not the best choice if you have an office job...but awesome!

Just a hint of pink, seeing a lot of this these days on clients!

Thank you Pink for your music that gets me through the day and for hair inspiration that makes my job so much fun!
