Short for spring, Part 2!

Ever wonder what you would look like after cutting 12 inches of hair off?  A friend of mine just recently found out!

Jean called me up a few weeks ago with a request for a new look.  She had seen her senior pictures (from 2003) and realized that her hair looked exactly the same.  Time for a change!

Now, Jean has gorgeous long hair, but I think she looks pretty amazing with her new short 'do.

Straight.

And curly.

Don't be afraid to try something new.  It is incredible what a new hairstyle can do for your overall look.  The coolest thing about Jean's big cut: she had enough hair to donate!

All set for a night out in Tacoma!

Of course, not everyone has that much hair, or even wants to cut it all off.  If that is the case, try a different color this summer!  Have fun with your hair!

Helmet hair

In honor of bike month, I thought I would talk a little bit about helmet hair.  Unfortunately, helmet hair is a common side affect of biking.  The shorter the hair, the worse it can be.

Mid-length hair can give you "the flip".

Long hair is the easiest to handle, just put it in a low ponytail.

The place I work just happens have all the tools to fix my hair after my commute, but I realize that that is not the case for everyone.  I have found that my hair looks the best when I start out with it curly, that way if it creases or bumps it just goes with the style!  Bring some hairspray or pommade with you to touch up your hair.  Even better if you have a shower at work and you can just do it there.

Braiding the front of your hair is a great style to try under your helmet.  It eliminates the chances of ruining your bangs and you can have the rest of your hair curly, straight or even put it up.

If your hair is short, help the after-helmet-hair by trying a headband.

If you are looking for a haircut that looks great under a helmet, look no further than the ever-classy mullet.  Those hockey players really know what they are doing.  Keeps the hair out of the eyes and you can still see the curls in the back.  :)

If you are worried about looking cool while riding, try a helmet like this:

 Or this:

These helmets look good enough to wear all day long!

But in all seriousness, don't miss out on the fun of riding your bike to work just because of your hair.  It is a great way to start and end your day!  Besides, who doesn't love an excuse to spend less time on their hair?!

Be safe and happy riding!

Short for spring!

I have been seeing a lot of pictures of short hair come through the door of the salon these days.  This is one of my favorites:

Dianna Agron went from long to short recently and I love how the short hair looks on her.

This length of hair has lots of different options.  The curls dress it up and the straight gives it an edgier look.

It is alway important to bring a picture in to the salon when you want to do a drastic change.  If you don't have any and want this look, ask for a chin-length bob with lots of layers and long side-swept bangs.  If it is still important to be able to pull your hair back, try a longer version like Heidi Klum.

Happy May!
